Darling Range Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade

I C E  In Case of Emergency
This is an international initiative that encourages people to store in their mobile phones the phone number of a person who should be contacted in the event of an emergency.

The system has been operating in Britain for some time and gained international recognition following the London bombings. The idea is that if something was to happen to you, and your mobile phone was with you, emergency services personnel could contact your nominated person. You could enhance your survival chances if you made the contact person aware of such things as your blood group and any allergies.

All you need to do is save an entry in your mobile as a contact called I C E, maybe adding your contact's first name in brackets after I C E, and the phone number of the person you want to be contacted.
